Ahead of the summit in April 2016 from 10th to 12 in Washington DC, USA, Jito Kayumba, one of the confirmed speakers for the summit expressed delight at the invitation and the good prospects of the continent through thought provoking conversations and dialogues sessions that will form part of the highlights of the 2016 African Energy Investment Summit.
speaking in an exclusive interview with AFTV5 based in Austin, Jito Kayumba who is a partner at Kukula Capital Plc, an equity firm in Zambia said, the summit looking at the location for the 2016 edition will provide the needed attention from world leaders, continental business partners and African Heads, since it will be held a couple of days before the start of the World Bank Group / IMF Spring Meetings were C-Level executives are present each year.
” it was a great feeling to be on a global sort of stage to share the story of Africa and its promise, I think what i treasure most is to be where almost all the action is taking place”.
Jito pointed out that the high interest of investors in the African continent and the hopes that despite all the technological advancements in other countries, the continent still remains a destination choice of many investors is something that needs to be encouraged and promoted.
Africa’s energy Sector forms a significant portion of the economies of all African countries, and as a sector it can bring about major continental development priorities, such as economic growth, boosting of further infrastructure development and investments, rapid industrialization and economic diversification, sustainable resource and environmental management, and creating jobs, human security, and shared prosperity.
Jito continued to stressed on the vast potentials and resources that makes the African continent one of the places on earth not to have issues with energy production but the under-utilization of these resources, the continent still struggles with energy production.
As part of ensuring that the summit is well publicized and well patronized especially in Ghana in its neighbouring countries, News Ghana, Ghana’s leading Online News portal, will be partnering the event organizers to execute the aims and goals of the summit especially in a time when Ghana is already bedeviled with an unending energy crisis that has lead to a load shedding exercise, earning the country the famous “Dumsor” name.
