The group won the 2012 Badagry Festival dance competition

The Agelasho cultural performance group has emerged winner of the 2012 Badagry Festival dance competition.

The dance competition, which held at Agazapo-enpo Shrine, Ajara Vetho, Badagry, saw ‘Agemathen’ and ‘Sato Royal’ dance groups take second and third positions respectively.

The Agelasho cultural perfomance group won a cash prize of N50,000, while Agemathen and Sato Royal dance groups received N30,000 and N20,000 respectively.

The leader of Agelasho group expressed joy over the group’s win, and promised to remain on top of the ladder at all times. 

Notable attendees at the competition included the Akran of Badagry, Oba, De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi 1; the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Husitode Moses; and Babatunde Laide-Mesiwaku, the President of African Renaissance Foundation, organisers of the festival.

The main features of the 2012 Badagry festival included the masquerade performance, drama presentation, art exhibition, and slave trade remembrance and its abolition.
