AGI commends Ghanaian media on World Press Freedom Day
By Ebenezer Sowah, GNA

Ho, May 05, GNA – The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has congratulated journalists across the country for the vital role they are playing to deepen democracy and nation building.

Mr Dela Gdzanku, Volta/Eastern Regional Chairman of the Association, in a statement to mark this year’s World Press Freedom Day, said the media was playing a crucial role, using their platforms to get people informed and to participate in national development.

This, he said, deserved to be commended.

He encouraged the media to remain focused – promote developmental issues whilst exposing wrongdoings in the society.

Mr. Gadzanku said the AGI was not unaware of challenges in the media landscape and pledged its readiness to partner practitioners to keep power in check and promote participatory democracy.

He asked that the media did more to support the growth of industry to help create jobs and wealth for the people.
