Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the sitting Member of Parliament for Agona West, has made shocking allegations against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that the party has colluded with the Electoral Commission to remove her from the upcoming parliamentary elections.
After failing to secure her party’s nomination, Morrison is now running as an independent candidate and expressed her frustration during an interview with MyNewsGH.com.
Morrison accused the NPP of using underhanded tactics to block her participation, alleging that her name has been omitted from the ballot papers. “They [NPP] have teamed up with the Electoral Commission to ensure my name is not on the ballot, but I will not be silenced,” she asserted, emphasizing her determination to represent the people of Agona West.
The MP also expressed disappointment over how she was treated during the primaries, suggesting that party insiders actively sabotaged her candidacy. She claimed that the NPP is attempting to further impede her campaign through a legal injunction, but remains resolute. “The injunction is just another attempt to silence me,” she said, vowing to expose what she knows about the government’s dealings, particularly regarding COVID-19 relief funds.
Morrison hinted at having sensitive information about corruption within the current administration and promised to reveal it if the NPP continues to obstruct her. “I have seen what went on behind closed doors during COVID-19. If they think I’m going to sit quietly while they play these games, they are mistaken,” she warned, reinforcing her commitment to her independent candidacy and her quest to uncover “the truth” about the NPP
