A China-assisted agricultural facility in central Liberia’s county of Bong entered a new partnership deal with local farmers on Monday, with an aim of increasing agricultural production in the West African country.
Under the partnership framework, the China-Liberia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center will provide agricultural inputs and technical support to the local farmers in ensuring food sufficiency both within the local Suakoko district and the country at large, a local management official said.
The partnership will also provide market linkage for local farmers to sell their produce at supermarkets and other institutions in the country, said Dakeh Mulbah, a local liaison officer of the center.
Mulbah noted the setting up of the center and the new partnership with local farmers was in fulfillment of the bilateral partnership between China and Liberia to strengthen agriculture production in the country.
The partnership project forms part of the sustainability aspect of the agricultural demonstration center, he said, expressing optimism that the project will not only provide money for the local farmers but also build their skills and increase agricultural production in Liberia. Enditem
