Sporting Director Björn Wesström has poured water on reports suggesting that AIK Stockholm are interested in signing retired Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng.
The Swedish side are thought to be keeping tabs on the 32-year old playmaker as a replacement for departing Ebenezer Ofori.
GHANAsoccernet.com revealed on Friday that contacts have been made to enquire about the suitability of the player after he expressed in returning to his former club.
But AIK Sporting Director Björn Wesström has moved quickly to water down the reports, saying they are unsure about his prospect.
“Derek has a fine history in AIK but today he is an old central midfielder and if he fits into our squad with the balance we seek in 2016, that is something that remains to be seen,” Wesström told Fotbolldirekt.
AIK are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season with Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Ofori set to leave in January.
