A public notice placed in the Daily Graphic by the committee had given the judge until 10am today to appear.
?You are to note that the committee will proceed on its work if you fail to appear on the said date,? the notice said.
But as of midday Thursday, October 22, there was still no news of Justice Ajet Nassam’s whereabouts, Joy News? Kwakye Afreh Nuamah reported.
The committee adjourned sitting to next week when one of the 12 indicted High Court judges is expected to appear before it.
The five-member committee set up by the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood is probing allegations that some 34 judges traded justice for material benefits.
The allegations are detailed in audio-visual recordings compiled by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The journalist petitioned the Chief Justice to remove the 22 lower court judges and the president to remove the 12 High Court judges.
In accordance with the constitutional provisions guiding the removal of judges, the president forwarded the petition to the CJ to initiate steps to impeach the judges.
The five-member committee probing the case involving the High Court judges took the extraordinary step of posting a public notice inviting Justice Ajet Nassam.
He is one of seven High Court judges against whom a prima facie case has been established and all of whom have been suspended.
The committee, Afreh Nuamah reported, has allocated a week to each judge to cross-examine the petitioner, Anas, with their lawyers if they so choose.
Since Justice Ajet Nassam did not appear before the deadline given him elapsed, a different judge is expected to appear and present their case next week.
It is expected by December 11 this year. all the High Court judges would have been heard.
A separate committee is hearing the case of the lower court judges.
