The Akosua Baako Foundation is collaborating with the National Service Secretariat and the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) to provide free tuition for senior high school leavers with poor grades in the Assin North District.

A partnership agreement has been signed by the parties for members of NASPA to provide extra classes for those students to prepare them for re-sit in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

More than 100 students who could not pursue their education due to poor performance are benefitting from the exercise.
Mr Charles Opoku, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, donated GH₵9,200 to NASPA to support the initiative.

Mr Stephen Asamoah, the Director of the National Service Secretariat, said the programme was a worthy cause because the beneficiary students would not be left behind in education, as they would have a second chance to pursue their dreams.

It would also reduce the rate of school drop-outs and teenage pregnancy, he added.

In a related development, Mr Opoku donated 15 buckets of paints to the Assin North Senior High and Technical School as an obligation to give back to his Alma Mater.

He also pledged to renovate the dining hall of the Assin State College and give scholarships to some brilliant but needy students.

He advised the students to take their studies seriously to have a secured future.
