President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving Ghana’s security personnel’s living conditions and standards through comprehensive initiatives.
Speaking at the inauguration of 320 new housing units for the Police Service in Tesano, Accra, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, President Akufo-Addo underscored the importance of modern equipment, advanced training, and state-of-the-art residential facilities in fostering a conducive environment for security personnel.
“These modern, well-equipped housing facilities and supporting tools aim to enhance the quality of life for our officers, creating an environment that motivates and boosts their operational readiness,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
He emphasized that the housing project exemplifies the government’s commitment to providing high-quality living solutions that meet contemporary comfort, sustainability, and safety standards.
The President expressed confidence that the initiative would provide shelter and instil a sense of security and stability in officers and their families.
Highlighting the broader strategy to strengthen security agencies, President Akufo-Addo praised ongoing efforts to improve equipment, training, and working conditions for the Police Service. He stressed the importance of addressing diverse needs within the security sector to establish a robust and effective security system across Ghana.
During the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo congratulated Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno on his promotion to Deputy Inspector General of Police (D-IGP) for Operations, commending his dedication to law enforcement and anticipating his continued contributions to the police service.
Minister for Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah highlighted the government’s commitment to providing decent housing for security agencies, noting that the initiative has resulted in 1,000 homes since 2017.
He detailed various ongoing housing projects across Ghana, including those for health workers, civil servants, and public servants, underscoring the government’s comprehensive approach to infrastructure development.
President Akufo-Addo reiterated the administration’s resolve to improve the quality of life for all Ghanaians, particularly those in essential roles within the security sector, as part of its broader agenda for national development.
