Kwame Jantuah, a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for prolonging discussions around the ‘Agyapadie’ document, suggesting that the issue would have naturally faded if the President had not commented on it.
The ‘Agyapadie’ document alleges a scheme by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to acquire state assets, a claim President Akufo-Addo dismissed as fabricated during a recent address at the Ghana Report Summit.
Jantuah argued that the President’s response may inadvertently keep the issue alive and potentially work against him.
Speaking on the TV3 program “Big Issue,” Jantuah emphasized the President’s option to pursue legal action if the document is indeed false, suggesting that such a move would definitively clarify the matter.
The ‘Agyapadie’ controversy is the latest in a series of challenges to President Akufo-Addo’s political career.
Marked by past false accusations aimed at undermining his integrity and credibility, the President’s response to the ‘Agyapadie’ document could potentially have a negative impact on his political standing.
As Ghana prepares for the 2024 General Elections, the need to address misinformation and disinformation is not just important, but crucial. It is a key factor in ensuring a transparent and credible democratic process.
