Best Ghanaian kickboxers in the diaspora have hailed Alhassan Okine for winning 2017 SWAG kickboxer of the year award and the only award winner who got cash prize from 9bs.
The kickboxers are Switzerland based Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, Roosevelt Morrison in the United Kingdom, Issaka Issah in Australia, and Steavano Kojo also in Switzerland, all based outside Ghana sent warm felicitations to the new winner of the award instituted by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG)
Meanwhile Pro Fighting Gym has appointed Sammy Heywood Okine as new vice president and Cecil Stanley as Communications Official.
In another development, all kickboxing fans and kickboxers who wish to join the national team are supposed to register for the next justify tournament on May 25, 2018.
Registration which is FREE is at the Ghana Kickboxing Association office at Accra sports stadium from May 18, 2018
President of the Ghana Kickboxing Association, Nii Adotey Dzata 1 has also commended the SWAG for considering and supporting Kickboxing in Ghana..
Last Sunday one kickboxer, Gerald Dah fought in China and lifted the flag of Ghana in the international event which was judged no contest due to Gerald Chinese opponent weighing over 8kg. The fight however came on to please the fans and Gerald put up a couragous performance backed by the fans.
Gerald’s opponent Ma Jian Hui failed to make the weight at 70 kg but came out at 78kg so the fight was declared ‘no contest’, but they fought like hungry lions and thrilled the fans.
President Nii Adotey Dzata said Kickboxing is the fastest growing sport in Ghana and most attractive, while the fighters are dedicated and committed to the sport..
The Kickboxing Supporters Union has also congratulated Alhassan Okine for his achievements and prayed that he maintains all his six titles.
