Sulley Muntari was sent off in thew draw against Roma
AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has jumped to the defence of Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari for his silly red card in the goalless draw with Roma.
The 28-year-old was sent off for trying to physically restrain the referee from booking a teammate.
Muntari?s sending off in the 41st minute cost Milan?s chances in the game as they struggled to get going with fewer men on the pitch.
The Rossoneri however held on to secure a point which in the end had no effect with Napoli confirming their second spot.
A lot of football fans have blasted Muntari for his immature act.
But Allegri has jumped to his player?s defence despite admitting the red card could have been avoided.
?Muntari really shouldn?t be doing things like this, as it is important for a team to have all 11 men on the field. We need to stay calm,? he said.
?Muntari made a mistake and he?s mortified but he shouldn?t be crucified.?
The Ghana international is now suspended for the Milan?s final Serie-A game at the weekend against Siena.
