Rwanda-China Alumni Organization (RCAO) recently held its official launch ceremony in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda.
The organization is an non-governmental organization founded by former Rwandan graduates from China. It has more than 350 registered members and aims at becoming the link among the graduates and a bridge of communication and friendship between Rwanda and China.
Chairman of RCAO Theoneste Higaniro said at the ceremony that the members of the organization received education in China from different backgrounds, but they have one goal, which is to develop themselves and to develop the community of Rwanda and the country.
“Rwanda can learn a lot from China,” he said. “I believe that we learned a lot from China. The way Chinese do things and all the best practices must be brought up from here starting within ourselves.”
Since its establishment, the members of RCAO have worked hard and added much energy and vitality to the development of Rwanda as well as Rwanda-China relations, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Rao Hongwei said when addressing the ceremony.
RCAO represents a most valuable initiative to expand the people-to-people exchanges that are growing rapidly between China and Rwanda, said the envoy, adding that the organization is truly a linkage among the alumni, a bridge between the Rwandans and local Chinese communities, a promoter for China-Rwanda cooperation.
