Mr Joshua Attoh Quarshie, a veteran Politician, has commended Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for his commitment to the provision of social service to communities in Accra.
He called on Ghanaians not to politicize issues relating to national and community development.
He said this when Dr Vanderpuije paid a courtesy call on him during his tour to inspect development projects he initiated in the Ablekuma South Constituency and to interact with the people.
He said: “As an opinion leader who represents the interest of the people of an area has the right to inform or educate the people on the happenings in a political party that one belongs to eliminate ignorance among them.”
He urged Dr Vanderpuije to continue with the good works began by the late Professor John Atta Mills.
Dr Vanderpuije said the provision and improvement of educational infrastructure had been the focus of President Dramani Mahama under the Better Ghana Agenda dubbed: “Transforming and Changing lives.”
He said: “As we come to the end of the year it is important to visit and interact with his constituents to thank them for their support for Accra.”
He said it is his belief that the provision of such social services apart from improving the lives of the people is a long term investment in human resource development, which benefits the broad section of the people.
The MCE also visited the “Tuesday Market” and assured the women of the government’s intention to build new markets for them.
Dr Vanderpuije interacted with the fishing folks at Chorkor on next year ”Kpaa Shimo”, which would come off in January 1, 2016 and promised to ensure that they get their outboard motors to support their work.
He said: “Private Partnership Programme is far advanced to ensure that the landing beaches are developed to attract tourists.”
At the James Town Palace to interact with the chiefs and people of the traditional council’s end of year meeting, Nii Kojo Ababio III, appealed for the rehabilitation of the palace since its status had been raised to paramouncy.
