Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) troops serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) intercepted a truck that had been stolen in Nairobi, a KDF spokesperson said on Friday.

The seizure was made as security forces intensified operations against cross-border thefts.

The truck was driven through Liboi, in Kenya’s Garissa county, into Somalia where the Kenyan troops, in partnership with Somali security forces, intercepted it and later handed it over to its owner, KDF spokesperson Zipporah Kioko said.

Cases of vehicles stolen in Kenya being driven to and sold in Somalia have been on the rise.
