After the final day of play, Amos Korblah played a total of 300 points which placed him in the 66th position.
He is the first Professional from Ghana to make the cut in an internationally prestigious competition, which was no mean feat and a pleasure to see the Ghana flag among other world flags during the competition.
The competition saw a strong line up of 140 senior Golfers from all over the World , with 20 of them not making the cut, including seasoned senior golfers like Colin Montgomery, Craig Stardler, Fred Funk, Tod Hamilton, Sandy Lyle and Sam Torrance.
Even though Amos didn’t play well on the final day, he still managed to beat eight players and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Miguel Angel Jimenez, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman and Tom Watson.
Speaking to the media, the President of the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana (PGA-Ghana), Mr Bliss Ayivor said “we couldn’t ask for more. Amos has shown what untapped potential we have in Ghana.
“Surely this must be an eye opener for Ghana that there is an alternative sport to football that can make Ghana proud”.
Mr Ayivor congratulated Amos Korblah and called him a hero of Ghana Golf, saying that “I know this is what Ghana Golf has been waiting for. It is only the beginning. There will be more to follow.”
