The former Minister of Transport and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) candidate for the Anambra North Senatorial zone, Prince John Emeka has thrown some light into issues that would first engage his attention on behalf of the people when he gets to the senate next year.
According to him, the completion of the Anambra-Kogi-Federal Capital Territory highway which would cut the travel period to Abuja to a mere three hour journey which he started as a Minister few years ago, would engage his attention first. Also he would see to the completion of the dredging of he lower River Niger upto the Anambra River to make it an all-season navigable water way.
Both projects would avail all Nigerian citizens from all parts of the country option of whether to travel to/fro the FCT by road, air or by sea, and in a record time.
Also that he has a dossier on the challenges and effects of the 2012 flooding in the area which has not been properly tackled and has remained a pain in the heart of most of his constituents who lost all their lives’ earnings in the disaster. Again, that the oil deposits in the zone have not received adequate attention and therefore needs Federal Government intervention for the state to be properly recognized and remunerated as an oil producing state.
Emeka who disclosed these during an interaction with journalists at Onitsha at the weekend, commended all the delegates and constituents who stood by and voted for him in the just concluded party primary. He assured not to disappoint them.
He said that he was constantly abreast with the challenges, needs and expectations of the people, hence would pursue it with vigor when he gets into the National Assembly.
