An Angolan delegation led by Transport Minister Ricardo D’Abreu arrived in Doha on Thursday to negotiate with Qatar Airways the sale of 39 percent share of the state-owned TAAG Angola Airlines, a source familiar with the process said on Friday.
According to the source, Angola is to remain majority shareholder of the airlines with 51 percent, while the remaining 10 percent will be split among workers of the transport sector. Qatar Airways will also be responsible for the management of the Angola Airline.
A partial agreement is expected to be sealed this year while the sale process could be concluded in 2021.
The partial sale of the Angola airline is part of the country’s government ongoing privatization process, which is seeking to privatize an overall 195 public firms including crucial ones such as the state-owned oil firm Sonangol. Enditem
