Angola recorded a total of 62,805 crimes over the year, as announced by the Minister of Interior Eugenio Laborinho Friday during the end-year ceremony for the National Police of Angola.

The data, covering January to December, showed a 2.7 percent decrease compared to the previous year, with 43,963 arrests and 64 percent of crimes solved.

Also, 13,597 traffic accidents were reported. Despite these data, the official insisted that public security in the country remains stable and under the authorities’ control.

Laborinho also pointed out that 71 percent of violent crimes were committed by individuals known to the victims, highlighting the need for increased attention and collaboration from families and society in general.
