The restructuring of the Angolan Telecommunication Company (Angola Telecom) is not an easy process due to its state and the government is very worried about the company, said a government minister on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies Jose Carvalho da Rocha said that despite difficulties, he does not reject the responsibility to make Angola Telecom an important company in the mosaic of market operators.

Angola Telecom, which has presented successively negative financial results, is being led by an interim managing board since the beginning of last year.

The state has initiated procedures for the privatization of 45 percent of the company’s capital, which has already received the title that enables it to function as the third operator of the national mobile network.

The telecom operator, a public telecommunications and multimedia company, was founded in 1992 following the merger of ENATEL and EPTEL and provides commercial voice and data services. Enditem
