Angolan President João Lourenço on Wednesday hailed improvements the country has made to raise revenues from the diamond sector following the introduction of new trade policy being implemented since 2018.

The introduction of the new diamond trade policy has put an end to the previously existing monopoly in diamond exploitation, the president said at the opening of an international conference on mining in Luanda.

Lourenço welcomed the emergence of more private investment in the mining sector.

He said the government is promoting the emergence of more diamond cutting and jeweler producer firms. Enditem
