In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Appolonia City has donated GHS 35,875.00 to Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) Junior High School (JHS) to provide two hot meals a day for students during the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

This generous gesture supports the student’s academic success and well-being during the crucial examination period. According to an official of Appolonia City, the purpose of the donation was to nourish the students’ minds and bodies, helping them stay focused and energised.

It also reduced the burden of meal expenses on the students and their families, allowing them to concentrate on their studies while demonstrating Appolonia City’s commitment to the well-being and success of the local community, particularly in education.

“By providing meals, Appolonia City aims to contribute to the student’s academic performance, overall well-being, and future success,” the official statement of Appolonia City, copied to the Communication for Development and Advocacy (CDA Consult) a development communication advocacy non-governmental organisation based in Tema, Ghana, has revealed.

The statement recounted that last year, similar donations by Appolonia City yielded outstanding results, with Appolonia KKMA Junior High School achieving a remarkable 96 percent pass rate, ranking it among the top public schools in the district.

“Almost all candidates gained admission into their first and second-choice high schools, including prestigious institutions like Holy Child, Accra Girls, Mawuli, and Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, a seven-time National Science and Math quiz champion,” stated.

According to the statement, the Senior Girls’ Prefect Isabella Badu expressed gratitude on behalf of her fellow students: “We are thankful for Appolonia City’s support, which motivates us to excel. We promise to make them proud again this year.”

Meanwhile, Appolonia City’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Yaw Acheampong Adjei, emphasised the importance of nutrition in education.

“We believe good nutrition is essential for academic performance. We have supported Appolonia KKMA JHS for several years and will continue to do so as part of our commitment to the Appolonia community,” he stated.

Mr Acheampong stressed that by providing meals for the students during the exam period, Appolonia City is helping to fuel their minds and support their academic success.

“It’s a great example of corporate social responsibility and community engagement,” he said.
