Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says his senior brother Baffuor Gyan has been his greatest inspiration since he began his football career.

The iconic number-3 shirt worn by the Shanghai SIPG in the Black Stars was originally the jersey number of his brother Baffuor Gyan during the 1999 World Youth Championship in Nigeria.

Baffour Gyan who later became a prolific striker for the Black stars performed creditably well in that tourney in 1999.

Asamoah Gyan is currently one of the most successful footballers on the African continent having played at three different world cups (2006, 2010 and 2014) and five Afcon championships (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015).

The Shanghai SIPG attacker is currently the top African scorer at FIFA World Cup with six goals and off the field he has been an accomplished business man having his own food company called Vits noodles.

He is also the CEO of Baby Jet Promotions as his outfit manages lightweight prospect Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe.

However, Gyan has stated that his elder brother Baffour Gyan has been behind all the critical decisions he took in his life.

“I want to thank my brother Baffour Gyan, he is my backbone he has done a lot for me, a lot decisions that I took in my career he was behind it,” Asamoah Gyan revealed.
