The Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly has overwhelmingly endorsed Mrs. Susan Akomea, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

Thirty-four (34) out of 35 members voted yes with only one person dissenting.

This was at an election supervised by the Electoral Commission and observed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah.

She was nominated by the President to the position after the assembly had twice voted to reject the earlier nominee, Mr. George Kyei Baffour.

Mrs. Akomea thanked the assembly and pledged to work with everybody to bring development to the people.

She appealed for strong support and cooperation of all.

Mr. Osei-Mensah urged unity, saying, they should put the past behind them and work together to speed up the area’s development.
