Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asante Kingdom’s King, visited King Charles III of England at Sandringham House, Norfolk.
This marks Otumfuo’s first meeting with King Charles since his coronation in March last year.
The visit coincides with Otumfuo’s presence in the United Kingdom, where he delivered a lecture at the British Museum, among other engagements. King Charles, who recently underwent surgery for prostate cancer, warmly received Otumfuo at his 20,000-acre estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Photos shared by the Royal Family on Facebook captured moments of camaraderie between the two monarchs, exchanging handshakes and smiles.
Otumfuo’s visit is part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations, commemorating 25 years on the Golden Stool. On August 4, 2024, he will host the sixth Akwasidae Festival in London, highlighting cultural ties between Ghana and the UK.
During his stay, Otumfuo engaged with cultural institutions like the Victoria and Albert Museum and enriched the British Museum with a lecture. His visit underscores the significance of cultural diplomacy and historical connections between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Otumfuo commenced his UK visit on July 13, 2024, and continues to foster bilateral relations while celebrating his milestone anniversary.
