AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo feels Ghanaian clubs have been unjustifiably criticized for securing boardroom points.

He claims the practice of gaining or losing points from protests is pervasive and not only exclusive to clubs in the country.

Fianoo backs his argument by citing the recent incident in Spain where giants Real Madrid got thrown out of the Copa del Rey for fielding an unqualified player against lower side Cadiz appealed.

“We have always been lambasted for taking boardroom points but this is not peculiar to only Ghana,” the former Ghana FA Executive Committee member said.

“A case under study is with the almighty Real Madrid. They played a game and later they were disqualified through the boardroom.

“So it is not as if it only happens in Ghana. That is not true.”
