At a United Television (UTV)Adikyi Nsuroma morning platform on Tuesday 5th July 2016, Carlos Ahenkora emphatically said “that Kennedy Agyapong is a man who tackles issues based on his investigations and evidence obtained and not on just mere allegations.

“A lot of suggestions and comments have been made about Kennedy Agyapong’s recent comment, but I know he is a man full of investigations and evidence-based subjects, therefore he would not speak on a matter without getting his facts right,” he said.

According to the NPP aspiring Member of Parliament for Tema West (MP), the Assin Central MP should thus be left alone.

This and other statements by Carlos Ahenkora appears to have surprised the Aspiring member of parliament for Tema West constituency,Lawyer James Enu.
According to Lawyer James Enu,Parliamentarians are suppose to be a role model and those aspiring for same should eschew in supporting such unsavory comments.

Lawyer Enu expressed this surprise and shock to this reporter at the sidelines of a visit to the zongo community during the muslim breaking of their fast on Wednesday at BBC ;a suburb of Tema.
“While well meaning Ghanaians and stakeholders in gender have condemned the unsavored statement by Kennedy Agyapong to apologize to the lady in the subject and to apologize to women in general,I am just surprised that an aspiring member of parliament like Carlos Ahenkora can get to the extent of supporting the New patriotic Party Financier” – Lawyer James Enu said.

“Politics is not about fight and insults,it is not about castigations and abuse,it is not about induendos are not good for this country and an aspiring legislature like carlos Ahenkora also supporting his statement”Lawyer James Enu said.
Lawyer Enu further said such statement about the Asin Central Mp and its associated support by Carlos Ahenkora is a dent to Parliament of Ghana lawyer James Enu added.

Meanwhile a press statement signed by the General Secretary of the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC), Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei expresses shock saying, is shocked by attempts to ridicule the achievements of Ghanaian women in the eye of the public.
Ghanaian women since independence have contributed immensely to national development by playing various leadership roles in education, politics, business, sports, religion and commerce despite our male dominated social-cultural environment. These women broke the glass-ceiling without compromising on their values. Against all odds single Ghanaian mothers without the help of men have worked hard whether in the market or in the boardroom to put food on the tables for their children, clothes at their back and shelter over their heads.

It is against this background that NACCC calls on Ghanaians to disregard the recent statement allegedly made by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong which seems to suggest that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission got her job by offering sexual favours. He must retract and apologize to all hard working Ghanaian women in general and Mrs Charlotte Osei in particular without further delay if the statement attributed to him is true.

As we prepare towards the upcoming elections, NACCC urges all Ghanaians especially politicians to watch their utterances and admonishes all adhere to the biblical Counselling in Colossians 4:6:

[6] Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Mr. Agyapong while addressing New Patriotic Party (NPP) members at Asokwa in the Ashanti region said the EC Chair gave sexual favours in order to be considered for her current position.

The comments have drawn condemnations from many individuals, organizations, civil society, and women groups.

The MP’s statement has been largely described as vulgar and an attack on womanhood and should be made to apologize and sanctioned.

Also, some of his colleague MPs have demanded punitive action to be taken against the Assin Central MP after he alleged that the EC boss got her job by sleeping with power brokers.

The MP who spoke on his Accra-based OMAN FM showed no remorse for accusing the EC Chairperson of trading sex for her position.

He said it is hypocritical on the part of his critics to ask him to apologize because similar insults have been hurled at him by NDC sympathizers and nobody was reprimanded.
