The Management of Sumaman Senior High School in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region has appealed to past students to support the construction of a standard science laboratory and other educational facilities in the school.

Mr Samuel Obour, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, who made the appeal, said assistance of the past students would also motivate and inspire government, corporate bodies and individuals to also support the development of the school.

Speaking at a durbar to climax the school’s 40th anniversary celebration held at Suma-Ahenkro, Mr Obour, an old student, said the government alone could not meet the infrastructural needs of public schools, hence the need for past students to support their alma mater.

He said the school required improved educational infrastructure not only to facilitate academic progress but also enhanced its student enrolment.

Mr Obour, who is also the Registrar of Sunyani Technical University (STU), donated GHC5,000.00 towards the construction of the science laboratory and appealed for more donations from the general public as well for the completion of the project.

Odeneho Dr. Afram Brempong, the Paramount Chief of Suma Traditional Area, also donated GHC5,000, while the Old Student Association also presented GHC5,600.00.

Alex Kwasi Awuah, the Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank, also a past student, gave a cheque for GHC5,000.00 on behalf of the bank, and personally donated GHC2,000.00 in support of the project.

Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, the Vice Chancellor of the STU, and a past student also presented GHC2,000.00 and called on everybody to support the construction of the science laboratory.
