At least 26 gunmen were confirmed killed during raids by the Nigerian military in the country’s northwest region, said a defense spokesman on Saturday.
The raids were carried out in different locations of the northwestern states of Katsina and Zamfara on Thursday, according to Benard Onyeuko, acting spokesman of the Nigerian defense headquarters.
Two gunmen were killed in one of the raids in Zamfara, while 24 others were gunned down in Katsina, said Onyeuko.
The military carried out the raids, acting on credible intelligence, he said, adding that the successful operation led to the recovery of some arms and ammunition. Enditem
