At least eight people lost their lives, while three others sustained severe injuries in a road accident at Anyinam, a community in east Ghana, local police confirmed Wednesday.

Kibi Divisional Commander of Motor Traffic and Transport Department Henry Agyemang told the media that two mini commuter buses, which were traveling toward Kumasi, bumped into a stationary truck in the middle of the road.

“The first bus managed to avoid the truck, but the second one crashed into it, resulting in the death of four of the travelers on the spot, while three more died at the hospital,” the commander said.

He said the driver of the broken-down truck also lost his life in the crash while assisting mechanics to fix a fault on his truck.
