AWA Releases June Operational Performance Results
Africa World Airlines (AWA) has released its June 2021 operational performance report. Per the data, a little over 51, 700 passengers were transported on board 1, 137 flights. Only 3 passengers were denied boarding.
AWA’s operations in June saw a reduction in scheduled flight numbers compared to May 2021 where 1, 145 flights were scheduled. However, more passengers were transported in June compared to May (47, 520).
Emirates Reopens Its First Class Lounge
Emirates has reopened its First Class Lounge in Dubai International Airport in response to the growing numbers of its premium passengers travelling through Dubai. Emirates says it will continue to run its trademark services in the lounge without compromising on bio-safety protocols.
Brussels Gets New Catering Provider
Brussels Airlines has welcomed Aramark into the airline industry by selecting it to be its official catering partner to provide culinary services in all its lounges at the Brussels Airport. Brussels’ selection of Aramark comes at a time where all its lounges are reopening after 8 months of closure.
World’s Largest Aircraft Visits Kotoka
On July 7, 2021, the world’s largest aircraft Antonov 225 Mriya touched down at the Kotoka International Airport from Germany. The aircraft which is used for special cargo operations departed to Namibia the next day after spending the night in Accra to deliver medical supplies.
Ethiopian Offering 60% Bonus
With an offer running until July 11, 2021, Ethiopian is offering all customers who buy, gift or transfer miles a 60% bonus.

Qatar Airways Joins IATA Turbulence Aware Platform
Qatar Airways has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Turbulence Aware Platform. Qatar’s successful enlistment will enable it to share and receive data with other airlines to help mitigate the impact of turbulence on passengers, aircraft and crew. With the sharing of this data, airlines are advised on clear flight paths, altitudes, among others.
Goldstar Air Supports Assin Brofoyedru M/A School
Goldstar Air, a Ghanaian-registered airline company has supported Assin Brofoyedru M/A School with the donation of building materials for the construction of a new Junior High School Block. The donation forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
