The Director of Studies of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Mr. Dele Soyemi, has cautioned students of the tertiary institution against indecent dressings and other vices, which may tarnish the image of the institution. Soyemi who spoke during the matriculation of 3,500 new students of the school lamented that the school had suffered a lot in recent time.

According to him, the school had suffered unfair publication in recent times because of the activities of some unscrupulous students of the institution. His words: “Don’t join bad gangs; don’t joint cultism, and don’t engage in indecent dressing. Because of the unholy activities of some students, this institution has suffered a lot in recent times.” This position was also corroborated by the Rector of the institution, Tokunbo Fowode who also charged the matriculating students to be of good characters and strive for excellence.

I charge you to strive for excellence, strive for success, be positive in your attitude and allow yourself to be affected by the positive things you see around you. Develop your critical reason skill. We desire that you conform to all the rules and regulations of the institution. We are very particular about the dress code and wish that you would all dress appropriately and decently to school and even outside school so that you can serve as role models for others.

According to him, their freedom does not translate to absence of control advising that the new students were on a journey of self-transformation and learning that would give them tools to become more effective persons for the society. As the institution continues to expand its areas of relevance and specialization, Fowode disclosed that very soon, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) would visit the school for resource inspection.
