South African rapper Bokang Moleli, widely known as Malome Vector, has died in a tragic car accident.
On Wednesday evening, his former record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, confirmed the news.
Ambitiouz Entertainment issued a statement expressing profound grief over the loss of the acclaimed artist. “With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a shining beacon; the Lion of Lesotho’s sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this profound loss,” the label said.
According to the Free State Department of Health, the accident occurred on the N1 near the Koppies turn-off close to Kroonstad. Three men, including Malome Vector, were declared dead at the scene, while two others—a man and a woman—were transported to Boitumelo Regional Hospital for treatment.
Sources indicated that Vector was en route from Gauteng through the Free State to Lesotho, where he was scheduled to shoot a music video. The collision involved the vehicle Vector travelling and a heavy motor vehicle. His musical collaborators Lizwi Wokuqala and Puleng Phoofolo were also in the car.
Hillary Mophethe of the Free State Department of Transport stated that while a burst tyre might have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
