Awinongya Jnr. Supports Black Bombers

Eight times American national junior boxing champion Joseph Awinongya Jnr. has donated items made up of water, malt, energy drinks and an undisclosed amount of cash to the national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers as they prepare to represent Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Olympics games will begin on July 28, but the Black Bombers will leave the shores of Ghana to Japan by June 23 to acclimatize in Inawashiro.

PRO of Awinogya, Mustapha Nettey presented 10 cartons of Active mineral water and 10 cartons of Malta Guinness and an undisclosed amount of money to the team to support their preparations for the Olympic Games.

The 14 year old Ghanaian American boxer who is based in the USA appreciated the hard work of the boxers to qualify Ghana to the Olympic Games and pledged to support them.

He explained that this will not be the end, but also working with other partners to bring boxing exchange programs to the Ghanaian Juvenile and Amateur boxing teams.

The technical director and head coach of the Ghana Amateur Boxing team, Coach Ofori Asare received the donation on behalf of the team and thanked Joseph Awinongya Jnr for showing such maturity even though he is just 14 years. He also call on Ghanaian to emulate the young boy.

“God richly bless Joseph Awinongya Jnr from wherever he is for supporting the team, he has a very good heart and he is going go far. Coach Asare expressed. We appreciate this gesture and these items will go a very long way to assist us in our preparations. It is like a morale booster” he expressed.

Captain of the Bombers, Suleman Tetteh expressed gratitude to the young champion and assured him that they are going to make Ghana proud and they will be glad to share their victory with him. He asked God to protect him and grant him success in the upcoming Junior Olympic Games competition in America which he also has qualified to participate..

Present at the ceremony were Messrs. Sammy Heywood Okine, PRO of the GBA / Deputy Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Coach Carl Lokko of the Bronx Gym, boxing enthusiast / manager Dauda Fuseni and vice president of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU), Samuel Nana Gyan.
