Dr Fahad Abdullah Aldossari, Chairman of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to fostering economic growth across the African continent during Sunday’s 50th-anniversary celebration of BADEA and the launch of the Arab-Africa Financial Consortium in Accra.
Acknowledging President Akufo Addo’s support and Ghana’s hosting of the anniversary event, Aldossari underscored the transformative role of the private sector in advancing sustainable development goals.
“The ambitious sustainable development agenda calls for a central role for the private sector. I am pleased to see many of our key partners from the private sector here today,” Aldossari remarked.
He highlighted BADEA’s significant commitment: “Over the past four years, BADEA’s dedication to the private sector and trade has totalled US$5 billion. BADEA has met the expectations of the continent and our shareholders and demonstrated agility and responsiveness in addressing development challenges, including the COVID-19 response.”
Aldossari expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo, describing the event as a testament to enhanced partnerships among financial institutions under his leadership.
BADEA, established on 18 February 1974, represents 18 Arab countries that are members of the League of Arab States (LAS).
The anniversary celebration highlighted BADEA’s commitment to advancing African economic cooperation and development initiatives.
