NEMA says it has began distributing relief materials in Bama

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says it has begun the distribution of relief materials to victims of last week’s attack in Bama in Borno.

NEMA North-East Media and Public Relations Officer, Malam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, made the disclosure in a statement in Maiduguri, Borno.

Many had died while many others were left injured after an attack on security personnel by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Ibrahim said the materials were delivered in Bama at the weekend by a team of officials led by the Director of Administration, Dr Zanna Muhammed.

“The materials were distributed in batches to the 202 Tank Battalion Barracks of the Nigerian Army, as well as the police and prison authorities in the area, for onward delivery to

officers affected by the attack,?? he said.

Ibrahim said another batch of relief materials was presented to the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari ibn El-Kanemi, for distribution among his subjects affected by the crisis.

 He said the leader of the team condoled families of the slain security officers, and other victims of the crisis during the visit.

“The team was also at the palace of the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari ibn El-Kanemi, where they condoled the royal father on the unfortunate incident,?? Ibrahim said.

About 55 persons, mainly security personnel, were killed during the attack by the suspected terrorists in the ancient town.
