The Banda Traditional Council in the Brong-Ahafo region has given Peace FM and its Reporter in Kumasi Sampson Nyamekye a 10-day ultimatum to retract a story aired on the station that the Omanhene of the Area, Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito is not the Omanhene of the area.
The Council has also challenged Peace FM and its Kumasi reporter to produce the Appeal Court’s judgment which says that Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito is not the Omanhene of Banda Traditional Area but rather one Sakyame Senapem.
In statement signed by Kwansiafamu Oseadeyo Barima Kofi Anim Hanteli, the Abreponghene of the Banda Traditional Area, said the only chieftaincy despute between the Omanhene Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito and Senapem ended at the Supreme Court in 2001 in favour of Osabarima Sito.
The statement said the claim as reported by Sampson was false and highly pregnant with sinister motives and diabolical intentions of Sakyame Senapem.
According to the Traditional Council, since the Supreme Court judgment in 2001 neither Appeal Court in Kuamsi nor any other competent court of jurisdiction in Ghana has given any judgment of the sort as far as the Council is concerned.
The Traditional Council said the Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito still remain the Omanhene of the Area.
