The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals following the boat incident which occurred at Tepleela temple’s pier on Saen Saab canal in Hua Mark area of the Thai capital.
The engine of the boat which used liquefied natural gas reportedly exploded, injuring the passengers while being shuttled on its first round Saturday morning. Most were reportedly slightly injured, the police said.
The explosion did not make the boat capsize though it was rendered completely out of order.
Chaovalit Metayaprapat, manager of Krobkrua Konsong Co, which operated the passenger boat said his firm will take full responsibility for all injuries of the passengers. He said the LNG-fueled engine was officially assured as “safe” and other boats of his firm will continue to ply the canal as usual.
The police are investigating the mishap on the busy canal. Enditem
