Bangladesh’s death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic has topped 150 as the spread of the virus still shows no sign of abating with hundreds of new cases reported every day in the country.

“Seven more people died in the last 24 hours,” senior health ministry official Nasima Sultana told a press conference broadcast by television channels Monday afternoon.

With the fresh fatalities on Monday, she said, the death toll from the COVID-19 in the country has risen to 152.

According to the official, the number of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country reached 5,913, including 497 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours.

During the last 24 hours, she said, nine more patients were released from hospital, bringing the number of recovered patients in the country to 131 so far. Enditem
