Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold Kudjoe Fianoo says coach Bashir Hayford has been handed a target of taking the club to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Hayford will be leading the Miners to Africa’s flagship club competition after presiding over the side’s first domestic title feat in almost two decades last term.
No Ghanaian team has however been able to make the group stage of the Champions League since Berekum Chelsea three seasons ago.
AshGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoe says the club has tasked Bashir Hayford, fresh from signing a contract extension with the Miners, to take the side to at least the group stage in Africa.
“Now that he has won the league for us, we’ve all witnessed the kind of joy he has brought to the club and the fans in Obuasi. We’re asking him to repeat the feat,” he told Nhyira FM.
“Again; we’re going to Africa and our target for Bash is to take us to the money zone.
“It has been a long time since we played in Africa and because of our lost four slots as Ghanaians; we want him to mastermind a brilliant performance by leading us to the group stages.
“With this, I’m sure we shall reclaim our four slots back. For now, this is our target for him.”
