Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has levelled strong criticisms against John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Bawumia accuses Mahama of evading a potential debate to shield what Bawumia describes as “empty policies.”
Speaking at a campaign event in Nalerigu during the second phase of his nationwide tour, Bawumia asserted his readiness to engage Mahama in a debate on economic and governance issues despite Mahama’s reluctance to participate.
Bawumia highlighted that Mahama and NDC representatives have struggled to articulate their party’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, portraying it as needing more substance. He emphasized his intent to continue promoting the NPP’s policies to the Ghanaian electorate, with or without a formal debate.
“I am looking forward to a debate with John Dramani Mahama on the economy and governance, but I fear he is avoiding it because he knows I would expose the hollowness of his policies,” Bawumia remarked, addressing supporters.
He further criticized Mahama’s team for failing to explain their policy proposals coherently, claiming they have resorted to vague promises such as exporting lions and elephants.
Bawumia concluded by affirming his commitment to presenting the NPP’s agenda directly to the people of Ghana, underscoring the importance of informed decision-making in the upcoming elections.
