Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called on African leaders and governments to recognize the pivotal role of citizens in achieving sustainable development across the continent.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Bawumia not only highlighted the potential benefits of advancing education, improving healthcare, and fostering a supportive environment for free enterprise and individual freedoms, but also painted a hopeful picture of the future of Africa with these advancements.
Speaking at the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) Annual Forum in Accra on Friday, Bawumia underscored the critical connection between democracy, the rule of law, and economic growth.
He highlighted that robust democratic institutions and adherence to the rule of law are essential for safeguarding individual rights, encouraging innovation, and stimulating economic activities.
Bawumia also strongly advocated for the adoption of digital technologies, emphasizing their pivotal role in enhancing transparency and efficiency in governance.
This reassures the audience about the progress in African governance and the potential for even greater cooperation among African nations to realize these goals.
“By working together on these fronts, we can embed democracy deeply into the fabric of African society,” Bawumia stated.
