In a fiery address to supporters in the Amasaman Constituency, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the upcoming December 7 general elections, launched a pointed critique of his main rival, former President John Dramani Mahama.

During his Greater Accra regional tour, Bawumia emphasized his accomplishments and readiness for the presidency.

“I have not been president before. I am a vice president,” he stated, setting the tone for a vigorous defence of his achievements.

He highlighted his role in implementing 33 policies that are currently in effect, asserting, “All the works I have done, I have done as vice president.”

Bawumia sharply criticized Mahama’s tenure, claiming that the former president could not present a policy he had championed.

“For the former president, he cannot even show a single policy he championed,” Bawumia said, contrasting his record with Mahama’s.

He argued that his successful tenure as vice president demonstrates his presidential capability, urging voters to “promote me to do the work of a president.”

The Vice President’s remarks contrasted his accomplishments with Mahama’s record, seeking to bolster his own candidacy while questioning his rival’s effectiveness.

Bawumia’s speech underscored the competitive nature of the upcoming election, setting the stage for a contentious campaign.
