President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to support Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, for the next eight years of leadership.
At the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto launch at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi on August 18, 2024, President Akufo-Addo praised Bawumia’s qualities and appealed to voters.
“I am in the best position to attest to the capability of our presidential ticket,” he said.
“I want to testify and appeal to the Ghanaian people through you about why they should entrust the leadership of this country to Mahamudu Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prempeh.”
He emphasized that effective leadership requires more than plans and policies; it demands character, strength, and determination.
“At the end of the day, plans, policies, and programs, if they lack character and determination, remain mere concepts,” Akufo-Addo stated.
Reflecting on his long association with Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo recounted their first meeting 16 years ago and affirmed their successful partnership, a partnership that has stood the test of time and proven its worth.
“Since we decided to join our lives together, I have never regretted it. In both opposition and government, Mahamudu Bawumia has been a model of loyalty, honesty, dedication, and patriotism,” he said.
He further underscored Bawumia’s dedication to Ghana, a dedication that makes us all proud: “He lives and breathes Ghana.”
I can confidently say that his every commitment will be fulfilled.”
