Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has pledged to position Ghana at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, focusing on education, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Speaking at the inauguration of a model STEM junior high school in Juaben, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for the country’s future, highlighting the critical role STEM education will play in the nation’s transformation.

The event, which was attended by key figures including the Paramount Chief of Juaben, Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II, marked a significant step towards advancing Ghana’s educational landscape. Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that under his leadership, the nation would leverage STEM and digital technologies to accelerate development and ensure that the youth are equipped to meet the demands of the modern world.

In his address, the Vice President emphasized that while significant strides had been made in improving senior high school education, the government’s new focus would be on junior high schools, with a particular emphasis on STEM disciplines. He assured the public that the newly launched model STEM school in Juaben would serve as a prototype for similar institutions across the country, helping to lay the foundation for Ghana’s future growth.

“This initiative will be rolled out nationwide,” Dr. Bawumia said. “This model is meant to inspire other regions and to ensure that the youth across Ghana are well-equipped to meet the demands of the modern world.”

The initiative was warmly welcomed by Daasebere Otuo Siriboe II, who expressed his gratitude for the government’s investment in education and for providing young people with opportunities to succeed. The collaboration between the traditional leadership and the government underscores the growing importance of STEM education as a tool for shaping Ghana’s future.
