Kofi Tonto, political aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Mahamudu Bawumia, has endorsed Bawumia as the top choice for young voters in the upcoming general election.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on August 6, Tonto underscored the unique qualities of Bawumia’s leadership that make him the perfect match for the aspirations of Ghana’s youth, particularly their desire to advance into the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

“Young people are looking for a leader who can help us catch up to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, somebody who can help us get to that level,” Tonto said.

“Who better than Mahamudu Bawumia? Someone who envisions a future where young people can live in places like Atimpoku and work for companies globally, provided they have the necessary skills and infrastructure.”

Tonto also praised Bawumia as the most impactful vice president since Aliu Mahama. He highlighted that Bawumia’s achievements, such as mobile money interoperability and drone-based medical deliveries, are tangible and resonate with young people, a departure from previous vice presidents whose contributions needed to be more visible.

“For the first time, young people are attributing tangible achievements to a vice president,” Tonto noted. Apart from Aliu Mahama, who made strides in sanitation and education for the girl child, no other vice president has left such a direct, positive mark on young people’s lives.”

Tonto cited Bawumia’s significant contributions to technology and infrastructure as key factors in his endorsement. He pointed to innovations such as mobile money interoperability and drone-based medical deliveries as examples of Bawumia’s impact, showcasing his competence and commitment to progress.

“If I’m a young person using mobile money across different networks, that’s directly due to Mahamudu Bawumia,” Tonto explained. “And when a drone passes by in Omenako to deliver medicines, the excitement among the local kids reflects Bawumia’s influence.”

He also highlighted improvements in emergency services, such as the increased availability of ambulances, easier renewal of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) cards, and access to Ghana Cards as further evidence of Bawumia’s positive impact.

“Bawumia’s contributions are evident in daily life,” Tonto added. “Young people can see and feel his impact, making him the best candidate to lead them into a prosperous future.”
