Mr William Kpormatsi, a former Parliamentary Primaries aspirant for Akatsi South National Democratic Congress (NDC), has presented some Mathematical sets to candidates preparing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BEC) in the Municipality.

He presented a total of 1579 mathematical sets to the Assembly in a short ceremony for onward distribution through the education directorate to all the candidates in the various schools.

The exercise was aimed at preparing the candidates for the upcoming BECE, which would commence on Monday, November 15 and end on Friday, November 19 across the country.

It would also encourage the candidates to strive for excellence.

After presenting the items, Mr Kpormatsi, popularly known as ‘Worfa William Kpormatsi,’ also a businessman, reaffirmed his commitment to help the Municipality in the area of education and others.

He said the need to produce great future leaders must be worked on from scratch.

“We must look at the foundation of our young ones, if we want to have great and responsible leaders in the near future, and this was my focus for years now,” he said.

On his part, Mr Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South who received the consignment on behalf of the Education Directorate, showered praises on Mr Kpormatsi for his benevolence over the years.

He promised to ensure the items get to every candidate under his jurisdiction.

A total of 1579 students comprising 781 males and 798 females are expected to write the BECE in the Municipality.

About 1,308 students were drawn from the public schools whilst 271 were from the private schools with five Examination centers.

A tour by the GNA to some of the centers showed ongoing preparations for a smooth conduct of the exercise.
