An eight year old Primary 3 school boy, Yaw Azumah was on Thursday afternoon attacked and killed by bees on his way to fetch water at Kwadwofourbehu village near Kukuom in the Asuanfo South District.
Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) confirmed the incident with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.
He said body of the deceased has been deposited at the Kukuom hospital morgue for autopsy whilst the other two have been treated and discharged.
Chief Inspector Oppong said Mr Azumah Kombo, 33, a farmer and father of the deceased, reported at the Kukuom Police Station that his three sons, Yaw Azumah, 8, Agya Musah, 7, and Atampo,10, went to fetch water at a nearby stream in the village and on their way were attacked and bitten by bees.
He said after the attack, the three children were rushed to the Kwapong Health Centre for treatment.
He said Azumah was, however, referred to the Kukuom hospital for further treatment but died in the process.
