Benin’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 21


The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Benin had increased to 21 as the country reported two more death cases on Tuesday, according to official figures.

A total of 1,199 infections had been reported in the country as 12 newly confirmed cases were reported in a national context of infection upsurge since the country registered first COVID-19 positive case on March 16.

So far, the West African country has registered 333 people who have recovered.

Benin has recently reinforced measures, including the compulsory wearing of face masks, in a bid to mitigate the spread of the pandemic.
