At his private home in Bibiani, on Sunday, July 14, 2024, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, met with a group of Anhwiaso citizens. Socializing with the MP and other New Patriotic Party (NPP) dignitaries was a fantastic day.

In his welcome address, the MP appreciated the gathering for responding quickly to his call at short notice. He recounted the community’s massive support of the NPP since its inception. The legislator further added that 78% of the total vote cast during the December 2020 general elections went in his favour. This, he said was unimaginable and commendable.

The Honourable MP explained the debilitating effect of the global recession on Ghana’s economic output. An assurance was given about a resilient and robust economy irrespective of the global economic turmoil. “The indicators are positive”, he stressed.

Despite this, Hon Obeng-Boateng reiterated that he had not rested on his oars since his assumption of office. He outlined his contributions to the community as the construction of an E-learning facility by Ghana Gas company, a Mechanized borehole, employment opportunities for the youth, and a three-unit classroom block from Coastal Development Authority. The contractor in charge of the town roads was also contacted on several occasions to complete the project ahead of schedule.

Touching on the entire constituency, the MP revealed that out of the 16 educational infrastructures dotted across the length and breadth of the Constituency, three are funded by the government, and the rest are self-financed. Other nine structures undergoing renovations are also financed by the MP. Health, Water and Sanitation, sports development, and Telecommunication projects were also highlighted by the MP.

Additionally, the MP emphasized that not long ago, 20 youths were enrolled in an Apprenticeship Training Programme for Seamstresses and Tailors. “Recruitment in the security services numbered up to 50”, the MP indicated. He finally solicited their support for victory in the 2024 polls to change the narrative.

The leadership also thanked the MP for the opportunity to dialogue with him and promised to work hard to maximize the votes in the community during the December general elections. However, the following requests were put before the MP for immediate action to be taken: slots for the Greener Pastures Programme, rehabilitation of farm roads, recruitment opportunities for the youth, additional toilet facilities, and a male ward for Anhwiaso Health Centre.

High-profile dignitaries at the meeting were, Nana Amoah, Council of Patrons, Mr. Anyimah Kingsley, Ben Ali Seaman, Badu Joseph Constituency Organizer, and Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Nasara Coordinator.
